I am a "retired" environmental professional now focusing on integrating my true loves:  nature, art and writing ~ stewARTship studios was born of this focus in 2004.
During my more than twenty years in the environmental profession, I found every way possible to incorporate my love of art and writing to my work.  For example, I illustrated business plans and wrote and edited various types of strategic plans over the course of my career.  As I made the transition from environmental compliance to environmental education, I found art to be a very effective teaching tool.  Art, including conventional studio art as well as the art of writing poetry, proved invaluable in helping my students (of all ages) connect in a personal way - an emotional way - to the environment.  This connection is essential in creating good stewards.   And, as you may have guessed, promoting sound stewardship is one of my goals.
I have found that when we experience nature, assimilate it, then take the time to artistically express what we have gleaned, the process strengthens an already existing, but often estranged or forgotten bond that we have with Mother Nature.
This idea is at the core of my work and explains why I am most passionate about creating
art and poetry that relates in some way to nature and our kinship to it.

stewARTship studios ~ Incorporating Art to Stewardship
The Mystic Muse

Soaring in and out of the rainbow colors in my mind;
sprinkling stardust ideas; calling on image-breezes;
spinning the word mill at spirit-to-Spirit confluence;
swaying suggestions on branches of composition tree;
slowly dripping teardrop thoughts from sprigs of Weeping Willow;
raining down joyful verse from our nimbostratus mindscape;
pounding out anxious rhythms on a spring Grouse’s thunder;
skipping across chakras; alighting mandalic labyrinths;
whisking me away to creative realms of All-That-Is.
